Leviticus 23-25
/“Consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants” (25:10). God declared that “because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers” (25:23-24), buying and selling had limits. Neither the Israelites nor their land could be permanently under bondage because God retained final ownership. He ordered the Israelites to free people and land as a sign of the redemption he would accomplish for the world.
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt ...” (25:38). The rescuer of the Israelites is the one revealed in Christ, who gave his life to redeem and restore us as his own people (Gal 13:14).
