I Timothy 1-2

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1:15). Paul urged Timothy to stay in Ephesus and help strengthen the faith of believers who were being led astray into false doctrine – “myths and endless genealogies...controversial speculations” (1:4). Rather than pointless arguments, Paul reminded them, “the goal of this command is love” (1:5). Paul urged them not to be distracted but to stay true to the message: “there is one God, and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Jesus Christ” (2:3-4).

As we strive to live “peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (2:2), the good news about Jesus shines clearly.
