Psalm 1
/“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither” (3). The first psalm describes the way God created us to live: fully “planted” in him, drinking from the water of Life, growing and being fruitful in all things. Yet, the human condition is usually the opposite; without God we are like “chaff”, rooted in nothing but ourselves, blowing around without purpose. The psalms invite us to the God-centered life in which we “prosper” in him (3).
“Blessed is the one ... whose delight is in the law of the Lord” (1-2). When the Lord is our true delight, we can live with peace and purpose in his world.
