Psalm 149-150

“Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people” (149:1). We praise the Lord for his “acts of power and surpassing greatness” (150:2), especially because he uses that greatness to lift up and give victory to the humble (149:4). The psalmist says that God’s people trust him so much that they confidently sing for joy whether they are actively engaged in battle (149:6-9), or they are on their beds due to sickness or need for rest (149:5). Either way, we can praise him.

“For the Lord takes delight in his people” (149:4). God made us for relationship with him, and our words of praise and musical worship bring him joy (150).
