II Corinthians 8-9

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (9:8). Because God is the original Giver, generosity is the way of God’s people: Jesus became ‘poor’ so that we might gain (8:9). The Macedonian churches followed this pattern, giving out of their poverty (8:2), trusting that their needs would be met (8:14), so that they could continue their ‘good works’ (9:8-11).

Giving creates space for God to do his work in and through us. “He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” (9:10).
