Psalm 10

“Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?” (1). The psalmist looked around and wondered where God was. He saw weak people being attacked by the powerful and arrogant people boasting about the sinful “cravings” of their hearts (3). Worse still, these people believed “Nothing will ever shake me ... God will never notice” (6, 11). Yet the psalmist knew that God is the defender of the weak, fatherless, and oppressed. “Arise, Lord ... do not forget the helpless” (12).

“The Lord is king forever and forever” (16). Our King does not stand far off in times of trouble. He hears, he sees, and he is involved. One day, his kingdom of righteousness will fully prevail.
