Hebrews 1

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word” (3). The author of Hebrews reassured believers that Jesus Christ is truly the eternal Son, worthy of worship. Angels (whom they apparently admired) might be spectacular, but only the Son – who united himself with weak, suffering sinners - forgives sins (3) and has divine authority (8). Angels and other powerful figures might seem like the answer to our fears (5), but God has a better answer – his Son.

God revealed Himself to us fully through Jesus (1). Neither angels with swords nor human powers can rescue us; Jesus Christ, who loved us and died for us, is our salvation.
