Hebrews 11:17-40
/“By faith Abraham ... who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son” (17). Hebrews explains that believers committed courageous acts of faith because they trusted in God’s wonderful promises – even without complete understanding. By faith Isaac blessed his sons “in regard to their future” (20). Joseph spoke about the Exodus and Moses “looked ahead” to God’s rescue (Christ, 26). They entrusted their present lives, loves, and hopes, to the God they believed would be faithful in the end.
Moses endured “disgrace” because he knew belonging to God had “greater value than the treasures of Egypt” (26). When we trust God’s heart, we can offer Him our treasures and hopes, safe in His “better country”, today and forever (16).
