Exodus 13-14

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” (14:14). The Lord knew that the Israelites were not ready to fight (13:17). Fleeing Egypt with children and flocks, they wondered if they would be killed by the Egyptians pursuing them. God led them to camp by the sea, which seemed like a trap but was really his plan of rescue. During the night, the “angel of God” and “pillar of cloud” protected them while they walked across the sea on dry ground (14:22).

“Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today” (14:13). Many battles are far too big for us. When we simply “stand firm,” God shows us his deliverance.
