Romans 4
/“Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham” (16). Paul insisted that salvation through faith was no new idea; Abraham himself was accepted by faith, not the Law. Many centuries before the Messiah came, Abraham believed in “the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not” (17).
Abraham, “father of us all” (16), was “fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised” (21). Having faith like Abraham’s means we are fully persuaded that Christ saves us, restores us, and keeps us.
