I Chronicles 13-18

“You made your people Israel your very own forever, and you, Lord, have become their God” (17:22). King David began his reign over the united tribes by bringing back the ark of the covenant. His good intentions at first provoked tragedy (ch 13): Uzzah’s death reminded the Israelites that they were not dealing with a local idol. They were in relationship with the Creator of the universe, and they could only approach him in reverence and humility, through sacrifices and worship (ch 16).

“Who am I, Lord God ...?” (17:16). None of us are worthy of being God’s children. Yet because the Son united himself with us and made us holy, we can enter God’s presence without fear.
