Exodus 19-24

“You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession” (19:4-6). God rescued Israel before they even understood how to worship Him. He gave them a new pattern of life to follow so that they could reflect His character on earth. They were called to obey the One who had brought them “out of the land of slavery” (20:2).

Jesus rescued us out of sin’s slavery to be “a kingdom of priests and a holy nation” (19:6). Our new way of life shows that we belong to Him.
