Exodus 16-18
/“Bear in mind that the LORD has given you the Sabbath; that is why on the sixth day he gives you bread for two days” (16:29). The Sabbath was a gift from God; He provided enough manna so that people could rest on that day. Yet some ignored His command and tried to work anyway. God wanted them to rest, honor Him, and sustain the journey, just as Jethro told Moses to let others help him lead; otherwise “you will only wear yourselves out” (18:18).
“The work is too much for you …you cannot handle it alone” (18:18). God designed us to need regular rest and the help of others; when we obey, we don’t “wear out” on the journey.
