Matthew 6

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth ... where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven ... For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (19-20). Jesus taught that the key to a good life is to seek God’s approval, not man’s (4,6,18), because God sees our hearts and desires sincere obedience (14-15). When we invest in his eternal kingdom by loving and imitating him, we find treasure no one can take from us.

“Do not worry ... but seek first his kingdom” (25-33). The King of the universe sees us and loves us, and we can trust that the sacrifices we make to follow him are worth it.
