Psalm 16-17

“I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing” (16:2). As the psalmist got older, he realized that all good things in his life came from God (6), and that those who followed the ways of the world ended up suffering “more and more” (4). All other paths and pursuits – wealth, comfort, self-reliance – led to emptiness and eventually, destruction. God alone was the Rock of his existence. “You alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure” (5).

“Show me the wonders of your great love” (17:7). God’s desire is that we give up control and trust him, so that he can show us the wonders of life with him.
