Psalm 62

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him” (1). For the psalmist, “salvation” included rescue from evil and rescue from the constant threats and insecurities of life. When he felt pressured by impossible circumstances or by those who wanted to knock him down (3-4), he found rest and security in the Lord. He realized that those who tried to live for themselves were “but a breath” (9), but in God he found rootedness, refuge, and real strength (6).

“Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord, is unfailing love” (11-12). God’s power and love give us the unshakeable security we need to face our circumstances with steady confidence and peace.
