Isaiah 33-34
/“Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress” (33:2). Isaiah declared that in distressing times, God promised to be “the sure foundation” for everyone who called on Him (33:6). Those who were relying on themselves would end up with “nothing” that could be called a kingdom (34:12). Human leaders had failed Israel, but God would never fail. “For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; it is he who will save us” (33:22).
God is the only King worth serving, the only Savior who won’t fail us. He is a “rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge” (33:6).
