Psalm 111

“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them” (2). In an era when everyone believed in some kind of ‘god,’ the psalmist rejoiced in the specific character of the true God, revealed in His actions for His people. He compassionately supplies what we need and remembers His promises (5); He is the God who rescues His people and brings them out into new life (6). Both His word and His acts are trustworthy and faithful (7).

“He has caused His wonders to be remembered” (4). Telling the stories of what God has done, for us personally and for the world, gives us faith to trust and obey Him (10).
