Genesis 5-7
/“Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence” (6:11). All the amazing potential and energy of humanity had been turned toward evil, so their power to rule had become power to harm, corrupt, and destroy (6:11-13). God decided to wipe the earth clean and start again with Noah, who was “blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God” (6:9). Noah somehow rejected the examples of his family and friends and chose to serve God.
“I have found you righteous in this generation” (7:1). No matter our background, family, or circumstances, we are still seen by God and valuable to him. We can choose to serve him and follow his ways in our own generation.
