Genesis 3-4

“You will certainly not die ... you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (3:4- 5). Adam and Eve listened to the serpent’s temptation “to be like God.” Scripture says Eve thought the fruit was “desirable for gaining wisdom” (3:6) – wisdom apart from God. Adam and Eve had been given incredible potential and status by God himself, yet they wanted to be more than creatures – they wanted to place themselves on God’s throne, deciding what was right and wrong. Doing this ripped them away from their Creator and each other (4:8).

“But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” (3:9). Sin separates us from our Creator, yet God comes looking for us. He makes a way for us to come home.
