Psalm 20-21
/“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God” (20:7). As a young shepherd, David grasped that it was the Lord who helped him protect the sheep against bears and lions. Later, he taught God’s people that the Lord was their powerful help “in distress” (20:1) and the only One who could satisfy the desires of their hearts (20:4). “For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken (21:7)
When we pay attention to our spiritual foundation, we can endure storms and shaking. “They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm” (20:8).
