Psalm 22

This Psalm, written a thousand years before Christ, inspired by the Holy Spirit, became the prayer of Christ to His Father in Christ’s suffering. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?,” v 1; “... “all my bones are out of joint,” v14; ...”they divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment,” v18. One cannot read these amazing words and not hear them echoed in the cry of Christ and the description of his experience in the Gospel record of His death. The Psalm is sacred, intimate.

The suffering of Christ was for us. The terrible cost of sin was paid. To experience its benefits, we must receive, i.e., believe it.
