Mark 8-9

“’Let us put up three shelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah’... Then a voice came from the cloud, ‘This is my Son whom I love; listen to him’” (Mark 9:5-7). Spiritual experiences are wonderful, but our understanding and response to them often needs correcting. Following the feeding of the 4000, the disciples misunderstood Christ’s warning about the Pharisees (8:1-17).

The presence of Moses and Elijah on the mountain with Jesus was wonderful, but did not warrant the elevation of their persons or their message to be equal with Christ. Moses was faithful as a servant, but Christ as the Son of God, Heb. 3:5,6. Our obedience and allegiance are to Him alone.
