Isaiah 30-32
/“In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength” (30:15). God wanted Israel to simply rest quietly and trust Him, but they wanted to “flee on horses” (30:16). God grieved that His people were frantically making alliances with pagan nations like Egypt (30:1-2) rather than turning to Him in their trouble. They rejected God’s correction and urged prophets to tell them “pleasant things” (30:10) rather than the truth. But Isaiah declared that God was eagerly waiting their repentance (30:19).
Insisting on our own way eventually leads to panic and distress, but God does not abandon us. By repentance and surrendering our lives to Jesus, our souls find “quietness and confidence forever” (32:15-17).
