Isaiah 2
/“Their land is full of silver and gold ... Their land is full of horses; there is no end to their chariots. Their land is full of idols” (7-8). The Lord warned Israel that judgment was coming because they were relying on silver and gold (wealth), horses and chariots (weapons), and idols (false gods). Rather than obeying God and trusting His protection, they followed “human pride” (11). God called them back to “walk in the light of the Lord” (5).
“He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths” (3). Wealth, weapons, and idols can’t give us the life we desire. Instead, Jesus calls us to “lose everything” and find security and salvation in Him (Mk 8:35).
