Isaiah 61-62
/“He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners ...” (61:1-2). Isaiah prophesied about the Anointed One who would bring God’s healing, freedom, and favor to all those who desire His kingdom. He would give them joy and beauty in place of mourning and despair, and they would become “oaks of righteousness” (61:3). Free and empowered, those called by the Messiah would “rebuild the ancient ruins ... renew the ruined cities” (61:3-4).
“They will be called the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord” (62:11-12). As God’s redeemed people, we are called to join Him in His work of healing and restoring what is ruined.
