Psalm 70-71
/“Be my rock of refuge, to which I can always go; give the command to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress” (71:3). In his old age, the psalmist returned to God again and again for rescue and safety (71:9-12). Throughout his dramatic, eventful life, he had seen “troubles” (20), but he had also experienced God’s “saving acts.” So many, he said, “I know not how to relate them all” (15). His desire was to declare God’s goodness and power “to the next generation” (18).
“For you have been my hope, Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth” (5). God pours out love throughout our lives; his mercy is available at the end just as in the beginning.
