Psalm 54
/“Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” This short psalm comes from a time of serious danger, when David was in hiding and many were against him (1). David believed that he had the “right” to call on God because of their relationship; he trusted that God was his helper, and that God was faithful and true (5,7). As part of God’s people, his enemies were the enemies of God (3).
We all experience struggle and danger, though the lines of battle in our lives may not be so clearly marked. But God our Helper is the same: faithful and true, ready to defend us, always on our side.
