Psalm 55
/“I would flee far away and stay in the desert; I would hurry to my place of shelter, far from the tempest and storm” (7-8). Like many of us, the psalmist felt so overwhelmed and bombarded with troubles that his desire was to flee. He faced threats, violence, and (the worst) even attacks from those who had been close friends (13). Rather than running away, he poured out his heart to God and declared, “As for me, I trust in you” (22).
“Cast your cares on the Lord, and he will sustain you” (22). With God’s help, we can face our fears rather than running away. He promises to fight our battles, help us, and sustain us.
