Psalm 132

“For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling” (13). King David deeply revered “Zion” (Jerusalem) and desired to build a sacred dwelling, a temple for the Lord (1-5). In a world poisoned by sin, Israel was incredibly blessed because God had chosen to “rest” among his people (8), and Jerusalem’s Temple became the central point of his holy presence. “I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation ...” (16).

“... and her faithful people will ever sing for joy” (16). We can rejoice that God has come to near to us in Jesus, and we are now his dwelling, “forever and ever” (14).
