Deuteronomy 25-26

“My father was a wandering Aramean, and he went down into Egypt with a few people ...” (26:5). Once settled in the land, the Israelites were supposed to take some of their first harvest and dedicate it to the Lord (26:-14). At the altar, they recited a brief history of how God led Abraham’s descendants through promises and trials to become a great nation. Now at peace, the Israelites were never to forget God’s miraculous kindness. “He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey” (26:9).

God’s blessings are intended to draw us into closer relationship as we rejoice “in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household” (26:11).
