Psalm 36

“Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, your justice like the great deep” (5-6). Although God’s amazing, infinite goodness shines all around us, the psalmist realized that sinfulness blinds the eyes of humans36. Rather than worshipping God for his unfailing love and “river of delights” (7-8), people boast in themselves. “In their own eyes they flatter themselves too much to detect or hate their sin” (2).

“For with you is the fountain of life; in your light we see light” (9-10). When we take our eyes off ourselves and focus on the Lord, his divine light fills our minds and hearts and conquers all darkness
