Ezekiel 36-48

“I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean ... I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you” (36:25-26). To an exiled people who had lost everything, who felt that “our bones are dried up and our hope is gone” (37:11), Ezekiel declared that new Life was coming. He saw a river flowing from a Temple filled with God’s glory, and trees with healing leaves (47:12). The redemption of God’s people would spill over for the broken world.

“And the name of the city will be ... the Lord is there” (48:35). Those who receive “a new heart and a new spirit” become God’s Temple, his dwelling place now and forever (37:27).
