Ezekiel 29-35
/“You rely on your sword, you do detestable things, and each of you defiles his neighbor’s wife. Should you then possess the land?” (33:26). Israelite leaders thought they were entitled to the land because of God’s covenant, yet they refused to live by God’s ways. They listened to Ezekiel’s words, but “they do not put them into practice. Their mouths speak of love, but their hearts are greedy for unjust gain” (33:31). Rejecting these false leaders, God said, “I myself will search for my sheep and look after them” (34:11).
Although human leaders disappoint, we belong to the Shepherd who never fails us. “You are my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, and I am your God” (34:31).
