II Samuel 19-20

“We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the Lord’s inheritance?” (19:18). After Absalom’s rebellion was defeated, King David and his army chief, Joab, worked to resolve other threats and attempted coups. But in pursuing the rebel Sheba son of Bikri, Joab forgot what was important and was willing to destroy the innocent. He was stopped by “a wise woman” in the town of Abel who offered another solution.

“We are the peaceful and faithful in Israel” (19:18). On our own, we lose perspective, but God’s Word, Spirit, and the counsel of faithful believers help us make wise decisions.
