Romans 10-11
/Paul wrote to a church that included both Jew and Gentile (10:12). There were tensions. It was hard for many Jewish believers to comprehend that “Gentiles” were fully members of the people of God (chp2-4). Some of the Gentiles seemed to feel like the Jews had their chance and had lost out (11:18). Paul, the Jewish apostle of Gentiles, reminds us that the gospel is big enough for “all those who believe” (10:11-13). This is the mystery of the gospel worth singing about (10:33-36).
It is far too easy for us to believe that we are the real “insiders” of faith. Paul reminds us that no one can feel superior (11:18) The gospel is grace for all or grace for none.
