John 20

“Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe’” (27). Thomas wanted to know that Jesus was not a ghost, or vision, but a flesh and blood man. Jesus was obviously different - locked doors didn’t stop him (19) – but he was human and even carried scars from his ordeal. Those scars testified to the fact that he experienced physical suffering as he bore the weight of our guilt and shame all the way to death.

“Peace be with you!” (21). Jesus forever carries our humanity with him, even scars, so that he can always be the source of our peace.
