Psalm 109

“But you, Sovereign Lord, help me for your name’s sake; out of the goodness of your love, deliver me” (21). Crying out for justice against his oppressors (6-20), the psalmist gave voice to the plight of “wounded” people who desperately need God to protect and defend them (22). The Lord sees every injustice, every evil (2-5), and while the world rewards the powerful and despises the weak, God “stands at the right hand of the needy, to save their lives from those who would condemn them” (31).

“Help me, Lord my God; save me according to your unfailing love” (26). We cry out to God not because we deserve His help, but because He is full of mercy and unfailing love.
