Jeremiah 45-46

“One warrior will stumble over another; both will fall down together” (46:12). Jeremiah’s prophesy against Egypt and Pharaoh’s armies declared that the best soldiers, technology, and leadership in the world would soon “fall down together”. Nations and empires would rise and fall, but real security was always found in God. To those scattered by exile and conquest, God said “Do not be afraid ... I will surely save you out of a distant place, your descendants from the land of their exile” (46:27).

The “peace and security” that the world offers is an illusion, easily shattered. But through Jesus our Emmanuel, God’s Word to us is “Do not be afraid ... for I am with you” (46-27-28).
