Acts 4

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness” (29). The healing of the lame man demanded attention in Jerusalem, and the number of believers had risen to five thousand men (4). Yet, when harassed by the religious leaders, Peter and John and the others simply prayed for boldness to continue speaking about Jesus (23). “Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus” (30).

“And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly” (31). As God’s people, confident his Spirit is with us, we focus not on who opposes us but on proclaiming Jesus.
