Acts 3
/“The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus” (13). Peter realized that Israel’s covenant promises were fulfilled in the crucified and resurrected Jesus. Those watching the healed lame man, evidence of Jesus’ power, could receive this Messiah, be forgiven, and receive “refreshing” (19). Their search was over. They were “heirs of the prophets and of the covenant God made with your fathers”, and Jesus, in surprising and unprecedented ways, had fulfilled that covenant (25).
“By faith in the name of Jesus ...” (16). Jew or Gentile, we don’t have to keep looking for the key to fix the world. Jesus has come, and he is the answer to all our longings.
