Acts 10
/“You are well aware that it is against our law for a Jew to associate with or visit a Gentile. But God has shown me that I should not call anyone impure or unclean” (28). Peter’s vision, in which God commanded him to eat animals that were against Jewish law, helped to prepare Peter for a much bigger issue: associating with ‘unclean’ Gentiles. God was teaching Peter that the old divisions were over; “everyone” who believes in Jesus receives forgiveness of sins (43).
“They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have” (47). In Christ there is no room for human superiority. Whatever our background, we are welcomed (and welcome others) into the family of God through Jesus Christ.
