II Chronicles 1-4

“Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?” (1:10). When God appeared before Solomon, the young king famously asked for wisdom. Solomon’s request pleased God because in that moment, Solomon realized that the power being given him was intended for the good of God’s people. And further, Solomon’s desire to build the Temple was for God’s glory, “because our God is greater than all other gods” (2:5).

“The Lord his God was with him and made him exceedingly great” (1:1). We are called to use God’s gifts – time, energy, influence, resources – for his glory and the good of others.
