Romans 7-9
/“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (8:8). The new life we share with Christ because of our faith in his death and resurrection is lived “according to the Spirit” (8:4). Jesus didn’t leave us alone; he gave us his Spirit as the sign of our rebirth. God’s Spirit in us helps us understand righteousness and sets our minds on life and peace (8:5-6); the Spirit helps us fight against sin (8:13); the Spirit reassures us of our new identity as sons and daughters of God (8:14-16), and the Spirit prays for us (8:26).
Because of Jesus’ Spirit in us, “in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” (8:37).
