Hebrews 6-8
/“Because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them” (7:25). Hebrews explains that we need no other mediator or priest but Jesus. Unlike human priests, Jesus had no sin, but instead sacrificed for everyone else “once for all when he offered himself” (7:27-28). The new covenant Jesus offers us (prophesied by Jeremiah, 8:10) in his own blood is “superior” to the old, which is “obsolete and outdated” (8:6,13).
Through Jesus we don’t just know about God; our minds and hearts are made new. The ancient promise is fulfilled: “I will be their God, and they will be my people” (8:10).
