Hebrews 4-5

“Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience” (4:11). Hebrews tells us that the “Sabbath rest” of God’s people is an invitation to live in obedience and trust under his care. Although the Israelites were rescued from Egypt and led through the wilderness, many still refused the “Sabbath rest” of fellowship with God (4:2,6). Thankfully, when we turn to him sincerely, our high priest Jesus intercedes on our behalf and offers help when we are tempted (4:15).

Through Christ, we can “approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” (4:16).
