Acts 16

“Paul wanted to take him along on the journey, so he circumcised him because of the Jews ...” (3). Surprisingly, after receiving the good word from the Jerusalem Council that circumcision was not necessary to be saved, Paul had half-Jewish, half-Gentile Timothy circumcised. But rather than having anything to do with salvation, Paul’s motive was “to take him along on the journey”. Timothy, as a co-missionary, had to willing and prepared for anything – ministering to Jews in the area, casting out demons (16), and enduring persecution (22).

“What must I do to be saved?” (30). Our faith in the One who surrendered his life motivates us to give up our rights, “to win as many as possible” (I Cor 9:19).
