II Kings 7-9

“How can there be peace,” Jehu replied, “as long as all the idolatry and witchcraft of your mother Jezebel abound?” (9:22). King Ahab and Queen Jezebel had spent decades leading Israel into idolatry and murdering God’s prophets, so God called Jehu to bring justice. “You are to destroy the house of Ahab your master, and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets ... shed by Jezebel” (9:7). God was declaring that real peace (shalom) was impossible while Jezebel’s evil influence continued.

“Who is on my side?” (9:32). Wavering between God and idols creates chaos and frustration, but peace comes when we throw ourselves wholly onto God and commit to being fully ‘on his side.’
