I Samuel 25-31
/“You shall not do so, my brothers, with what the LORD has given us. He has preserved us ...” (30:23). When David and his men went to fight theAmalekites who had kidnapped their families, some of the Israelite soldiers stayed behind due to exhaustion (v10). Upon their victorious return, some of David’s “worthless” men didn’t want to share the spoils with those left behind. David recognized that God had given them victory, and so the treasure came from Him. How could they be greedy with God’s gifts?
If we believe that “every good gift” is from God, we will treat others with the generosity we have received (James 1:17).
