I Chronicles 1-12
/“And David became more and more powerful, because the Lord Almighty was with him” (11:9). The author of Chronicles summarized Israel’s history from Adam to the kingship of David. David’s reign pointed the people toward God, even as he personally failed and learned repentance. His faith inspired other strong leaders: “Day after day men came to help David, until he had a great army, like the army of God” (12:22). David’s songs of repentance, praise, and hope set the tone for Israel to be a people centered on worship.
When David was crowned king, “there was joy in Israel” (12:40). Good leaders give us peace for a moment, but one day we will enjoy lasting peace under the rule of King Jesus.
